SCALE 1:1 MOCKUP MODEL

Cutting the patterns..

My chair was not strong enough as when i sit on, the top part was bended. I used recycled boxes to make this models and seems the material wasn't good enough. Some parts alrealdy folded. I think it will be better with Xanita.

Anyway this model wasn't successful as I thought. The chair is too long in the length and the supporter is not strong enought. Should do more development works!

More Inspirations!

In 1965 Riki Watanabe created the cardboard furniture series which was critically acclaimed then for its safety and elegance. Safety, because Japan falls under seismic zone and cardboard furniture pieces are always safer.

The Metropolitan gallery of Tokyo has reproduced these furniture pieces again and the Kids’ Set can hold the weight of an adult. The stools and tables are sturdy enough and even a hefty adult can sit on them without them breaking. They come in soft and pastel colours which make your interiors look great and stylish.

This lightweight, portable cardboard table aims to assist on-the-go creative types like designers and students, who are often limited to work on low desks or floors. Made by Sruli Recht from flatpack cardboard pieces, this lightweight, sturdy design offers creatives an ergonomic plane on which to cut, fold, draft or design. Adding even more appeal to this smart and useful design, the table is biodegradable and can easily be folded up to pack into a portable carrier.

Johan Carlsson of Denmark created this neat little cardboard chair — dubbed YOC or ‘your own chair’ — that doubles as a shopping basket when you’re not resting your weary toesies.

My Inspiration

The Cardboard Chair

This cardboard chair is a portable gallery or museum seat for people of all ages. The chair would be rented from the reception, and then returned or disposed of in a recycling bin after use. It is made from a single sheet of corrugated card, glued in two places and can be easily folded from it’s space saving, portable form into a durable and comfortable chair in seconds.

Generoso Parmegiani's 'Lady' chair made of cardboard!

What makes it special is its design based on origami and it is sure to transport you back to your childhood. This chair is designed by Generoso Parmegiani and is made of cardboard double wave.

The chair closes to give you the space you need. It may sound complex, but, even reopening it into the chair design is easy and this may look light. But, it can amazingly carry the weight of over 200 kilograms! The dimensions measure 48cm in length, 70cm in breadth and 85cm in height. The color palette looks interesting and easy.
